Pets in Grow a Garden 2 come in four size variants — Normal, Big, Huge, and Mega — that affect rarity and potentially stats and abilities. The size is rolled when you obtain or hatch the pet and does not change afterwards. There is no upgrade path from Normal to Big to Mega; you simply keep acquiring pets and each new one has a small chance at a larger size.
Note: despite the word “size”, this is not an evolution or progression system — your pet does not grow over time. Each pet's size is fixed at the moment of acquisition. This page covers how the size system works, the badges tied to Big and Mega, and how to maximise your odds over time. For the per-pet ability database, see the all pets page.
Note on odds: Big and Mega size variants are rare. Exact hatch rates are not publicly documented. Some badge statistics (like OMG its MEGA!) may give a rough sense of rarity, but badge win rate is not the same as hatch probability — treat any specific percentages you see elsewhere with caution.
Roblox Badges API statistics (official, fetched 2026-06-22)
OMG its BIG! has been awarded to 254,259 players (0.002% win rate); OMG its MEGA! to 5,545 players(<0.001% win rate). These are official statistics but reflect badge awards, not direct hatch probability.
Each pet you acquire is assigned one of four size variants at the moment of acquisition. The variants, in ascending rarity:
Normal Size
The standard pet size variant. The vast majority of pets you acquire will be Normal — this is the base version of each pet with no size modifier.

Mega Size
OMG its MEGA!The rarest pet size variant. Mega pets come from Guild rewards, making them the rarest pets in the game. They may have significantly enhanced stats or unique visual effects.

- 🎲 Random chance. When you obtain or hatch a pet, its size is rolled randomly. The chance of getting a Big or Mega pet is very low, which is what makes them prized possessions.
- 📊 No evolution path. Pets do not grow or evolve from one size to another over time. You cannot upgrade a Normal pet to Big or Mega. The size is locked at acquisition.
- 🔄 Increasing your odds. The only way to get a Big or Mega pet is to keep obtaining/hatching pets. Each new pet has a small chance at a larger size. There is no known “luck” mechanic — pure volume of attempts is the only lever.
Confirmed
- Pets have size variations (Normal, Big, Huge, Mega).
- Size affects rarity.
- Big and Mega pets have dedicated badges.
- Mega pets are extremely rare across the player base.
Unverified
- Do larger pets have better stats?
- Do certain eggs have higher Big/Mega chances?
- Can size be upgraded through gameplay?
- Are there size-specific abilities?
- Where exactly does Huge sit between Big and Mega?
Four badges in Grow a Garden 2 are tied to the pet size system (First Pet!, Egg Hatcher!, OMG its BIG!, OMG its MEGA!). All four are worth chasing if you want a complete badge collection.
| Badge | Requirement | Rarity | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| First Pet! | Obtain your first pet | Common | 14.57M players · 0.069% (official) |
| Egg Hatcher! | Hatch a pet egg | Legendary | 764.6K players · 0.008% (official) |
| OMG its BIG! | Hatch a pet with BIG size | Legendary | 254.3K players · 0.002% (official) |
| OMG its MEGA! | Obtain a pet with MEGA rarity | Legendary | 5.5K players · <0.001% (official) |
- Keep trying. Each new pet has a small chance of being Big or Mega. Volume is the only lever — there is no known luck mechanic.
- Focus on cheaper pets. If you are hunting for size badges, cheaper pets allow more attempts per Sheckle spent than end-game pets (see /pets for current prices).
- Check the pet database. Some pets may have higher size variation rates than others — this is unverified, but worth watching.
- Hatch eggs. Common Eggs from Guild rewards are the documented source of Mega pets. Join a guild early and never miss a weekly reward.
- Patience. Mega pets are extremely rare across the entire player base. OMG its MEGA! is a long-term goal. Treat Big and Mega as nice-to-have, not must-have.
Every pet in the database can roll any size. See the all pets page for the complete list of 13 pets with abilities, rarities, and sources. Below are thumbnails for every pet — click any one for its full entry.
