Ice Serpent

Ice Serpent is a control defender rather than a damage defender: it freezes intruders in place and applies the Frozen mutation to your own plants as a side effect. The freeze matters most against fast raiders that would otherwise escape a slower melee defender like Bear, buying time for a second defender to engage.

The Frozen side-effect is unusual — it stacks the defense pet's behavior on top of the weather mutation system, which means a defended plot can pick up incidental Frozen rolls during a raid window. Treat that as upside rather than the main reason to own Ice Serpent. The main reason is the control layer on top of an active defense stack.

Ice Serpent is the most expensive pet in the dataset. The honest framing: it pays for itself only on plots that already attract significant raid attention, layered on top of Bee and a ground defender. Buying it before the rest of the stack is in place usually leaves the control effect underused.
