Banana at 30,000 Sheckles is the cheapest Epic seed, and that is the entire case for buying it first inside the Epic tier. Per-pick value (35 Sheckles) is lower than the other Epics, but the seed cost is also dramatically lower, which matters when the alternative is tying up an order of magnitude more Sheckles in a single Coconut or Mango plot.
The case against Banana is timing: at the Epic tier, grow cycles are long enough that the per-pick value advantage of Coconut or Mango outweighs the seed-cost gap over time. Banana is the right pick while you are still saving for those higher Epics; once Coconut is affordable, Banana plots are usually better converted.
Banana's grow cycle is long enough that growth-speed multipliers are the highest-value pairing. A Common Sprinkler or higher sprinkler tier applied across a Banana plot shaves real time off every cycle, and because the crop is multi-harvest those seconds stack across the life of the plot. Pair with a growth pet (Deer) to extend the boost plot-wide.
Banana is also where the mutation-upside argument starts to matter. Long cycles mean the crop sits through more weather windows, so layering a mutation-focused pet like the Golden Dragonfly on top of a growth setup can produce outsized single-pick payouts when a Gold or weather mutation lands. Treat that as upside, not a baseline — see the mutations guide for the stacking rules.
